Refreshing Watermelon Protein Shake (Slushy-Style) – The Winning Summer & Cutting Recipe
Looking for a creative, tasty, and light way to hit your daily protein goal on hot days? A watermelon protein shake with a slushy (or granita) texture is exactly the solution. The combination of the watermelon’s natural sweetness with neutral protein powder creates a super-hydrating drink, rich in fluids and electrolytes, perfect for recovery after a workout or as a sweet, low-calorie dessert. Thanks to using frozen watermelon, the shake gets a thick, cool texture just like a real sorbet or slushy.
Ingredients (for one serving)
- 2 cups small seedless watermelon cubes (about 300g), pre-frozen
- 1 scoop neutral protein powder
- 0.5 to 1 cup very cold water (or coconut water)
- 0.5 to 1 tbsp allulose powder (optional, to taste)
- 3-4 fresh mint leaves
Instructions
1. Prepare the base
Place the small frozen watermelon cubes and the fresh mint leaves into the blender jug.
2. Add the protein and sweetener
Add the scoop of neutral protein powder, and the allulose powder (if you choose to use it).
3. Add the liquids
Pour in half a cup of cold water (or coconut water) first. We recommend starting with this amount and blending, then gradually adding more liquid up to a full cup according to your desired texture.

4. Blend the ingredients
Run the blender in short pulses to break up the watermelon cubes, then blend at high speed until you get a smooth, frozen, indulgent texture.
5. Serve
Pour immediately into a tall glass, garnish with a fresh mint leaf, and drink with a straw.

💡 Tips to Upgrade the Shake
For a stronger granita effect: If you prefer a more crystalline, slushy texture, add 2-3 ice cubes along with the frozen watermelon while blending.
Add some tartness: A light squeeze of half a fresh lemon or lime into the blender will cut through the sweetness and give the shake an especially refreshing twist.
